Fly into Bradley International (Hartford/Stringfield) if you can. From there, I'd suggest you get the shuttle with Valley Transporter.

If you would like to find online directions or  maps of Northampton the zip code is 01060.  If you would like to try using the maps Smith College makes available on their website, here’s the link. If you are looking for the dorm on the Smith College maps, the correct name is Franklin King House.

Or, maybe the directions below will work fine for you. I suggest you copy and paste them into your word processor for printing.

We'll start by getting you to the intersection of Routes 5 and 9 in downtown Northampton - where Silverscape jewelers, Florence Savings Bank and Sweeties are good landmarks - from either the North or South on I-91. (If you are coming from the East or West on Rte 2 or the Mass Pike, you'll end up on I-91 anyway, so these should work for you, too.) From there, follow the directions to either Helen Hills Hills Chapel (for concerts) or Franklin King House (for everything else).

From the South: Northampton is on Route I-91 in Massachusetts. Take Exit 18, and follow Route 5 north into the center of town.  At the intersection with Rte 9, (Main St.), you will have Florence Savings Bank on your right.  Silverscape Designs is across Main St. from that.

To get to Smith from this intersection (including Helen Hills Hills Chapel and Franklin King House): Turn left onto Route 9. Follow the directions below to get you to the exactly spot you are looking for:

To get to Helen Hills Hills Chapel: Go straight through four traffic lights. You are now in the midst of the Smith Campus. After the fourth traffic light on Rte 9, keep a lookout to your right.  The Chapel is a large, white building set back from the road a bit, directly across the street from the main entrance to Smith (College Ln.).  If you hit Crescent or Franklin St. you went too far.  This time of year most of the students are gone so parking on Rte. 9 or other nearby streets should not be a problem. Pay attention to the street signs indicating when and where it is legal to park.

To get to the dorm (Franklin King House): Follow the directions above, but keep going on Rte 9 beyond Helen Hills Hills Chapel and start looking to your left. Our dorm is on the left just a couple blocks further, between Paradise Rd and Kensington Ave. It is actually two dorms that, together, form a large crescent. Pay attention to the street signs indicating when and where it is legal to park. If you come to another set of lights in front of Cooley-Dickenson hospital you have gone several blocks too far. But at least now you know where the hospital is. :)

From the North: From I-91 South, take Exit 20, and follow onto Route 5 south into the center of town. At the intersection of Route 5 and Route 9 (Main Street), you will have the Calvin Theater and Silverscape Designs to your left.

To get to Smith from this intersection (including Helen Hills Hills Chapel and Franklin King House): Turn right onto Route 9 and follow the directions above to get to either venue.
