Women's Accomodations

This genre of music — and so, our event — has always attracted more men than women as active participants. This has made it a little tricky to accomodate women in the dorms because they are set up for one gender only. This year's dorm, Franklin King, will make it easier for us to give women a bit more privacy without great inconvenience.

To get a clear picture of how this is going to work, you might want to look at the floor plans for King that can be found here on the Smith website. The basic idea is to put the first women to register on the fourth floor, where you will have both the hallway and a small shared bathroom to yourselves. I'm told that these rooms are much coveted by seniors, as they are larger. There is an elevator that goes as far as the 3rd floor, so you won't have to climb the whole way.

If more women register than can be accomodated on the 4th floor, the next group of rooms we'll use are numbers 322-328, just below the 4th floor rooms. These are set apart and so will afford a certain privacy. They, too, have a bathroom nearby that will be designated for women. (Rm 300 T2 on the floor plan) The 4th floor bathroom will also be close by.

Let me know if there's anything else we can do to make our event more attractive and inviting for women. We want you here!
