Welcome! Django in June is New England's premier occasion to celebrate, study and just plain enjoy the musical tradition unwittingly launched en France some 75 years ago by Django Reinhardt, now known by many as "Gypsy jazz." In 2008, the event will be held between June 10th and 15th on the campus of Smith College in beautiful Northampton, MA.
Once again, musicians will have the choice of going the full-immersion route by attending Django Camp Tuesday through Sunday or of dropping in for a weekend of clinics and jamming. And of course, we'll be hosting concerts by world-class Gypsy jazz artists at the lovely Helen Hills Hills Chapel on Friday and Saturday nights. This year our featured artists will include the Robin Nolan Trio (in their first return visit with us since the very first Django in June in '04), and L'Ensemble Zaiti, on their first tour of the U.S.
